Web hosting...Go Daddy? Help!?

I%26#039;m trying to put up my own website for my portfolio work...I purchased a domain name off of Go Daddy, but have no idea where to go from there or what I need in order to create a webpage?? I would love to be able to set up my own layout and design through Photoshop and Illustrator, but don%26#039;t know if it is possible and what is required to do so... any help would be appreciated! Thanks :)

Web hosting...Go Daddy? Help!?

Any good hosting service should be able to transfer a domain name for you.

I prefer Servage.net for my hosting. They one of the best packages on the net for one of the best prices and have the best customer service out of all the hosting companies I%26#039;ve tried (I%26#039;m a web designer and every client comes to us with their own host it seems and none of them have been as good as Servage).

If you go with Servage, or anyone else for that matter, normally they have the option to either create a new domain name or to transfer one for you. Either way it%26#039;s free, at least with Servage. Just give them the information they ask for and they%26#039;ll work with GoDaddy.com to transfer the domain name for you, or help you set it up if that%26#039;s what you want.

Web hosting...Go Daddy? Help!?

mmmkay. get hosting service such as bluehost.com , then goto godaddy control panel, manage your domains nameservers and put : NS1.BLUEHOST.COM and NS2.BLUEHOST.COM

your website should then parse its content to users who goto www.blah.com

then you access your host by FTP and modify and or upload content.

Dreamweaver CS3 Works well for this.

Other Replys:The domain name is just the first step. You need a place to put your web site - a WEB HOST. Go Daddy provides a free, limited web host service. It has a banner ad and you have to use their site builder. If you want more freedom and no banners, you will have to probably pay for a web host. Go Daddy has them, but there a a lot of web hosts to choose from. Do a Google search on web host.

Other Replys:Hi there,

Did you just purchase the domain name or did you purchase hosting from them too?

If you didn%26#039;t purchase hosting that would be step number one. Once you have acquired a hosting account, they will send you the information you need to access your control panel, where you will be able to upload your files/layouts that you have made.

If you did purchase hosting and they didn%26#039;t not tell you how to access your account, you are going to need to contact them.

I%26#039;m a bit confused... you are saying you are not sure what is required or if you can set it up, however you are also saying that you are trying to put up your website.

If you already have a layout made, then it%26#039;s just a matter of putting the content that you want to display on your site in the layout, any additional info (pages) you want to add and then uploading them to your hosting account.

Once you have a hosting account, you need to return to GoDaddy and set up your nameservers. The information you will need to use will be provided by the hosting company you decide to go with.

Good luck with it!

Other Replys:You can find step by step guide on how to create a website at website like http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm

Other Replys:A) You need a Web host to get pages on the Web. I learned about my Web host through a book called Creating Web Sites:The Missing Manual.

B) Your Web host will help you with your domain name.

C) Consider using Dreamweaver CS3 to help you create and design your site: I was in the same position as you 2 months ago, facing the same issues, and that%26#039;s what I am using. It%26#039;s pretty good for people who don%26#039;t know what they are doing!

Let me give you a helpful link to get started:

1)

This link gives you a review of what I just mentioned, but also provides a link to download Dreamweaver CS3 free, what you should look for in a Web host, some links to Web hosts you might want to consider, links to the book, and a link to a Dreamweaver Tutorial to get you started.

Other Replys:Did you get hosting? Go here http://www.whackahost.com and you can get some hosting ideas. Use the question form and I can walk you through setting something up. I know it sounds complicated, but its not that hard when all is said and done.

Look forward to hearing from you .
