Starting your own sports fan sites?

I want some info from people that have started their own sports team fan site.

1) Does it bring in enough money to support itself? How is Amazon Affiliates, AdSense, etc, working for you?

2) What does it cost you, Domain, hosting, forums (phpBB is free, good choice?), etc. ?

3) can i just start up a fansite for a specific team, or do i have do to any legal stuff?

4) How long did it take you to actually get the site up and running to and become successful?

5) ANY OTHER INFO YOU FEEL IS IMPORTANT PLEASE ADD....

Question 1... if you have enough traffic you will make money. use google or yahoo

Question 2...Check with yahoo on pricing they have specials often.

1 Buy a domain

2. Setup of a web hosting

3. Create a website

4. Publish your website

For beginners I think yahoo web hosting is the best and easiest to use. Yahoo has question and answer section that can solve most problems and direct phone line for additional support.

Question 3 You can start it for a specific team, I would check with the teams about logo use.

Question 4 How long it take to get your site up will be based on your skill. You can have it goining in under a week with yahoo. The success will be based on traffic and users on your site.

Question 5. I would have chat rooms and maybe a question and answer forum like yahoo.

Do interviews of players to attract more people to your site.

well, you can start everything free, and you won%26#039;t need to worry about whether it%26#039;ll support itself. :)

for free forums scripts, phpBB is good, so is simple machines forum (smf)

as for starting fan sites for specific teams, i don%26#039;t think there are any legal issues unless your site solicit illegal activities, or promote hate, etc...

setting up a free web hosting account, with a web forum install is very fast...
