What can I do when I want a .com domain name that is taken but not being used?

I want to secure a .com domain name for my business but some opportunist is just sitting on the name without operating a web site. I have made contact via the host but they say the owner wants a riduculous amount of money to part with the name. Is there any way I can obtain this site if the owner is not or has never operated a web site with this domain and is asking an exhorbitant purchase price?

a registered trade mark ( disney , SEARS , walmart ) to name a few you can file paper work to take the name , kinda what happen to the wwf they had to change their name to wwe because the name WWF was owned by the world wildlife foundation .

Nope you%26#039;re seeing the effects of the .com boom. Some bum sold sears.com for hundreds of thousands if I remember right. Try to find a domain that%26#039;s similar at least that%26#039;s your best bet.
