I have a pretty broad question about websites and website designing which can be broken down into a few questions:
1) What%26#039;s the differance between just buying a domain and buying a hosting plan?
2) What are some good places to buy these domains/hosting plans?
3) About web designing: are there any good software/programs that help you make good html based websites?
I%26#039;m really really confused and sound like a 1st grader when asking these things but I would appreciate it if someone would help. THANKS!!!
Broad Question about Creating a Website?
1.) domain name is the address of a website (for example, yourwebsite.com). it%26#039;s composed of a top-level domain name (TLD), which is the .com, .net, .us part, and the second level domain name (yourwebsite part). The price of domain name depends on the TLD. If you check GoDaddy, .com domain names has different price compared to .us and .info domain names.
Web hosts gives you virtual space for the files that you will upload for your website. They also give you email accounts. For example, you can create info@yourwebsite.com or support@yourwebsite.com website.
2.) I suggest that you check My Webbie Hosting (http://mywebbiehosting.com). Registration of one domain name is free for all plans. That means, you only have to pay for the hosting plan.
Their cheapest plan is only $3.95/month, but I suggest that you go for their $4.95 plan because it includes SiteStudio, a software which can use to create a website.
3.) As I have said above, My Webbie Hosting%26#039;s SiteStudio can help you in creating your website. The only you have to do is to customize the templates that they provided. Check out the demo of this software and the templates they provided by clicking the link below.
Broad Question about Creating a Website?
3) About web designing: are there any good software/programs that help you make good html based websites?
A program called Dreamweaver, comes with the Adobe CS3 package, it is a very good program that helps you, develop a website better, but it won%26#039;t make the site for you. If you really want to make a decent website, you should try doing some tutorials or taking a class, and then trying to make it on your own, or with Dreamweaver. To use dreamweaver you need knowledge of a basic amount of html.
Other Replys:1) What%26#039;s the differance between just buying a domain and buying a hosting plan?
- a domain is www.YOURNAME.com / net / org / biz / info .. and so on. The hosting is the space that stores your files for that website.
You can also be hosted on someone%26#039;s domain as a sub-domain this means if a friend of yours has a domain they give you some webspace, and your URL would be www.YOURFRIENDSSITE.COM/yoursubdomain. But this gives them full control over what you do.
2) What are some good places to buy these domains/hosting plans?
I am hosted at agn-solutions.net as well as surnaturelle.net.. both are reliable and a lot cheaper than big company names such as godaddy.com for example.
3) About web designing: are there any good software/programs that help you make good html based websites?
If you are a beginner try Microsoft Frontpage.

Other Replys:1. the domain is the name, what%26#039;s in the address bar in your browser. it%26#039;s a type of property that you pay to own. A hosting plan is server space that you rent to put your website files on. the domain name becomes affiliated with the server location so when people type that in their browser, it takes them to your files. Dmains shouldn%26#039;t cost more than $9-11 per year.
2. Two big domain registrars are GoDaddy and Enom.
They also have hosting plans. But there are many hosting service providers that will also allow you to get a domain name at their site. You don%26#039;t have to pay a lot for hosting or domains, but you want a reliable company that%26#039;s going to support you when needed.
3. Hosting companies often come with design packages and online site building tools. If you want to get your own software, NetObjects Fusion is a pretty good starting point; Dreamweaver is the cream of the crop with a big price tag to match. These two are wysiwyg editors. Then there are editors that are more basic, requiring more knowlege of html, javascript, styling, etc.
Some hosts offer free software.
Other Replys:From buying the domain to putting it on the host.
Check with the host to see what they offer.. Many will offer free scripts so you will not have to do most of the programming.

Other Replys:Do you want a small business website? Do you want a static brochure or do you want something more polished, possibly with a shopping cart.
A simple design uses HTML with three frames. The top banner usually has an image and title. The smaller side frame has a navigation menu. The central larger frame displays the page selected by the navigation menu.
When you want something fancier, you need CSS or Javasript. There are lots of customizable templates; some are free.
If you find a website you like, View %26gt; Source. You can see the internal structure.
After you build the site you might want some traffic. Sometimes you can blog or post a video on You
Tube to attract attention.
Other Replys:A domain name is a name your rent for a year , a hosting plan is a place to upload your files. You can get a domain name for as little as $1.89 at http://nkuw.com . Most hosting packages come with a free site builder.
