Just getting started....

If I purchase a domain name can I choose where I have it hosted or must I hoast with whom I bought the domain?

The easiest is to find a hosting provider that offers the package you are looking for and that also sells domain names. If you really whish to buy your domain name elsewhere, look for a registrar that offers a Domain management tool so you can modify your DNS settings yourself.

Your hosting provider can tell you what the dns settings need to be.

yes you can choose wehre you want it to be hosted, but i sugest you find a domain registrar and web hosting service that meets your needs as it will be easier to have it all in one.

Other Replys:You CAN choose where you want to host it.

Other Replys:When you purchase hosting from a company, they give you the DNS Name Servers address that you need to switch out with your domain name seller. If you buy from GoDaddy, you sign in and switch out the

nameserver1.godaddy.com

nameserver2.godaddy.com

with:

nameserver1.hostingcompany.com

nameserver2.hostingcompany.com

Other Replys:yes, you can choose it
